Precision in Abdominoplasty:
Managing Excess Skin and Dog Ears

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) Blogs Menu:

In an abdominoplasty, the incision is proportionate to the amount of extra skin that needs removal.

At times this goes around the side and to the back. In the operating room with the patient lying on her back, the sterile field does not extend to the end of the extra skin and we are unable to remove that extra skin. It is removed at four months when the tissues have settled.

In our office in Des Plaines or Chicago, there is no physician charge for the removal of this extra skin under local anesthesia. There is only a room and supply charge.
