Some of the Maneuvers in “Tipplasty”
Tipplasty is a type of nose surgery that focuses on reshaping the lower part or tip of the nose.
Resection of extra tissue:
We can make the wall of the nostril thinner. (A)
We can remove some of the outer alar tissue to effect contour of the outer nostril. (B)
We can narrow the whole nostril, including the floor of it called the nasal sill. (C)
We can also do a combination of all these “soft tissue” removal. (D)
we can also narrow the width of the alar cartilage by doing what is called a cephalic trim (E).
Addition or grafting of cartilage:
We can add cartilage in the columella in order to support it make it more firm and help in control of the columella lip angle. (F)
We can add Cartilage to the tip itself. (G)
The sources of cartilage can be the patient own ear or donor cartilage.
Placing sutures to correct the shape:
We can place permanent suture within the cartilage itself to correct its curvature. (H)
We can place a suture going across the nose between the bases of the alar rims in order to narrow that base and support it. (I)
We can put sutures between the two tip cartilages to help narrow the width of the tip.(J)
