Pre- and Post-Operative Care for Chemical Peel
On the day of the appointment
- Please come to the office without any makeup.
Postoperative Care:
- The depth of the peel is equivalent to a very deep sunburn, and the skin is expected to peel within 7 to 10 days.
- Care should provide an environment adequate for healing, prevent infection, and protect the skin from deeper damage. If tolerated, cleaning the face with soap is recommended.
Care Instructions:
- Boil a glass of water, add a large spoon of white vinegar, and refrigerate the solution. Use compresses dipped in the cold solution on the face to clean the skin and alleviate the burning sensation.
- Vaseline can be applied as well.
Important Consideration:
- The most important consideration is to prevent hyperpigmentation. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or more is fundamental. If there is any evidence of even mild pigmentation returning, hydroquinone cream should be added to the regimen.
