Pre-Operative & Post Instructions for Chin Augmentation
Frequently, the procedure is done in the office under local anesthesia.
Pre-Operative Preparation:
- Ensure someone is driving you to the office and taking you home.
- Take Ativan, the antibiotic, and, if desired, the pain medication just before leaving home for the office.
- Review the medication instructions provided in your folder.
Post-Operative Care:
- A bandage will be applied to the skin and should be left in place. A garment will hold the bandage and the chin in place to minimize bruising. The bandage can be removed after two days.
- Sutures will be removed after one week.
- Eat as normal.
- Return to work as soon as you are comfortable and not taking any narcotic pain medication.
- Drive only when you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication.
- Wash your face normally and apply antibiotic ointment to the sutures twice a day.
- The garment should be kept on at night for the first week.
