Pre-Operative & Post Instructions for Chin Augmentation

Frequently, the procedure is done in the office under local anesthesia.

Pre-Operative Preparation:

  1. Ensure someone is driving you to the office and taking you home.
  2. Take Ativan, the antibiotic, and, if desired, the pain medication just before leaving home for the office.
  3. Review the medication instructions provided in your folder.

Post-Operative Care:

  1. A bandage will be applied to the skin and should be left in place. A garment will hold the bandage and the chin in place to minimize bruising. The bandage can be removed after two days.
  2. Sutures will be removed after one week.
  3. Eat as normal.
  4. Return to work as soon as you are comfortable and not taking any narcotic pain medication.
  5. Drive only when you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication.
  6. Wash your face normally and apply antibiotic ointment to the sutures twice a day.
  7. The garment should be kept on at night for the first week.
