Thigh lift is a procedure aimed at correcting a multitude of problems in the
inner thighs, fat deposits, skin laxity, thinness of the skin,
hyper-pigmentation and stretch marks.
There two techniques for performing a thigh lift depending on the amount and the location of the excess skin.
It is limited to the upper thigh then a scar within the groin allows for correction of the majority of the extra skin.
To correct this condition, a good preoperative evaluation and careful marking of the skin incisions are required. The skin of the inner thigh is elevated from an incision at the junction of the thigh and groin and resected as marked before the surgery. The closure of the skin is very crucial. It is done in a special way to produce lasting results and prevent downward scar migration and distortion of the vulva. Sometimes the skin excess is so significant that a vertical incision is necessary.
If there has been major weight loss then excess would be present down to the knee, and the scar will have to extend to this area .
Careful marking is key because although the scar is visible we hope it will not be very noticeable.
A special garment is used to support the healing tissues.
